Wow, Claude Makelele is a real big name bargain:

CLAUDE MAKELELE (LW) CPS (15/15/14) - £1.1M (NANTES)

Awesome. Never recognized him.

* Fredrik Ljungberg has to qualify for this discussion.
As Hamstad s reserve midfielder, his price is only 150K.
And sadly it shows, his speed is 1 on the 0-7 scale, his ball control a 2.
His best skills are passing and tackling at a whopping 3 out of 7. :)

* D Fabio Cannavaro has to be the biggest name out there at 3 stars out of 5.
Reserve at Parma, costing 1M, but with maximum tackling and heading.
Very useful if you use the results button, or if you re needing too much speed in your defense.

Two very cheap Euro2008 semi finalists (not counting the obvious Ballack):
* Turk Ayhan Akman costs only 100K as Gaziantepspor s starting midfielder.
Scores a 5 out of 7 in speed, 3 out of 7 in ball control and a big fat 0 in everything else. :D

* Russian Sergei Semak is available for 110K from Amaral Moscow.
Scores a 5 out of 7 in finishing, a 3 in heading, a 1 in shooting.
Which of course leaves nothing left for the other skills. ;)

Well.

My first time here...
No need to say that i would just kill for a nice evening playing
those little squared minimans in a great soccer match, to decide the first place in a competition, sometimes, by an inch...

So, here s a hint...

Martyn Chalk - Wrexham 06/07 (in SWOS Total Pack) - Attacker - 250 or 300k - fast, but not so powerful in shooting. Nevertheless, he just puts the ball in that unreachable corner... eheheheheh

Jamie McCombe - Bristol City 06/07 (in SWOS Total Pack) - Midfielder - 500k - Very fast, great tackle: wins almost every one on one challenge, very strong, rarely gets bruised, good ball control.

that s my first tip, hope you enjoyed it...
will come back with some more of these squared minimans... ;,);););););););)

Henrick Larsson, the Swedish forward (VSC). Although a bit over a million in value, he s someone I often like to have waiting around on the bench. Good shot, good speed, good control. Gets a lot of goals as a second-stringer you can bring on as a sub or to cover for a star you want to keep safe from injury. Keeps his value despite being benched most of the time too.

In SWOS 96/97 when I start always try to buy these players:

Norwin Wooter (Ajax) 1 mln - really fast attacker
Valdas Ivanauskas (Hamburg) 1mln - same as Wooter

Rosen Kirilov and Vitorio Pavlov from CSKA (Sofia) are also good players for their values.

Thomas Berthold 850k VFB Stuttgart RB ... 15@ heading 14@ tackling 14@ speed... definitely a must in your defense
