Sound Mods for PC SWOS

Hey all,

I ve developed a couple of sound mods for PC SWOS 96/97. I ve already posted this in the Codies forums, but thought I d post here too for those of you that don t regularly visit those forums.

Here s the details:

Sound Mod for PC SWOS 96/97
In this mod I replaced all the default background chants, team chants, score chants, (one-nil, two-nil etc) with more English sounding sounds. I ve also replaced the Jonathan Pierce commentary with various sound effects for added atmosphere, (clapping etc).

Sound Mod for PC SWOS 96/97 with Jon Motson Commentary
This mod is exactly the same as my first mod, except that I ve mixed in commentary for those that prefer to hear some play-by-play - however I replaced Jonathon Pierce with Jon Motson!

There are ReadMe s for the Sound Files Only versions with instructions on how to create a new image etc, or just download the complete ISO s.

Forgive me if this is a stupid question but having recently installed SWOS 96/97 and getting it all set up (i m using DOS BOX and dfend set up as shwon in a guide on here) ...... well i can only get the game to run without sound. So if i download this sound mod will the sounds become available or not?

Sorry mrgund, if you can t get the standard version of SWOS 96/97 to play with sound, then the same will happen with my modded version. Did you follow Playaveli s guides to getting SWOS to run? I m assuming you re using Windows XP, if so, look here:

Total pack include them ?

yes, the Total Pack includes them. However, although the Total Pack is absolutely brilliant, especially for getting PC SWOS to run in XP etc, I still find the best way to run PC SWOS is on an older PC, running true DOS. I actually have a Windows 98 partition on my XP/Vista PC, and I boot to real DOS using a boot floppy, and run SWOS from there.

I use the Total Pack too, but for the original feel, speed etc, I play in DOS.



PS: It s mentioned in the ReadMe files, but make sure if you use my mod, to have the commentary turned ON...this is because I replaced all the commentary with sound effects too, so you ll be missing out on the full effect if the commentary is disabled...
