Replied by Francescomanetti82 on topic Team database - bug reports: italian serie A and european qualifying positions
Hello to everyone, i have noticed that with the career mode, in the italian serie A there is not possible to access to the european qualifying positions for Champions League and UEFA cup. Contrariwise, i emember in the original SWOS 96/97 there was this possibility. Is this a bug? Or it has been a "choice" in the making of the new SWOS 2020 programming work?
Thanks so much, cheers to everyone
Francesco

Hope I'm not too late with this, but while player shopping I just discovered that, like Celtic, Italian Serie B team Crotone all have the nationality "SAL".

You must use an old version... get 1.1... all of this has been corrected!

Seems there are a few issues with Wolves in the Premier League on v1.1:
Home socks should be black
Ryan Bennett no longer with the club (has joined Leicester City) - suggest you replace with Max Kilman (D)
Neves / Moutinho / Dendonker / Doherty hair should be black
Conor Coady isn't a left-back, he's a D
Adama Traore is too slow - he's the worlds quickest player!

Corrected hair colors for those guys.
Adama Traore cannot be too slow... his speed is already on max!
If Coady is D, who would be playing as LB instead of him?

Ah ok on Traore!
Coady should be changed to a D.
LB could be replaced with Max Kilman but starting line up in 3-5-2 should be:
Patricio
Boly - Coady - Saiss
Traore - Dendonker - Neves - Moutinho - Otto
Jimenez (main striker) - Jota

Hi there
As a long-time editor, just putting in my 2 cents here (regarding use of 4-5-1 for teams that play 4-3-3 IRL).
Modern 4-3-3 in modern teams IRL is basically the same as the 4-5-1 in SWOS (as well as being functionally a 4-5-1 IRL).
The SWOS original 4-3-3 is essentially just broken (it wrongly assumes a 4-3-3 has one CM, two wingers and three centre forwards who are playing narrower than two of the midfield three - a setup that has never been used by any team in history IRL). This is why SWOS was full of crazy stuff like Patrick Vieira being a RW - having to shoehorn 3 central midfielders into a formation that only has one. It is also nothing like a modern 4-3-3 setup, if you should disagree with the above, even if you relabel the positions, since the wide forwards are narrower than two of the central midfielders. You would have to call 2 of the Barcelona or Liverpool midfielders wingers for example
M Fabinho
M Henderson
M Wijnaldum
RW Salah
LW Mane
A Firmino
is realistic.
M Fabinho
RW Henderson
LW Wijnaldum

A Firmino
is not. Four of the six players have incorrect positions and are in the wrong place on the pitch too.
The SWOS 4-5-1 however is serviceable as a modern 4-3-3, if not perfect.
In my updates I never used 4-3-3 for this reason. I would never recommend its use. Always used 4-5-1, and if anything all the teams that are using the broken 4-3-3 could be corrected to 4-5-1 to be more accurate (which is not as easy as just changing the formation as the central midfield "wingers" will move to the actual wing, and two of the forwards will take their place in central midfield)
So yes, some of those teams play modern 4-3-3 that's right, but the swos 4-3-3 is wack and is not that.
That's all cheers!
