I ve created names of sides by such a rule:
1. main sides: R C L
2. add sides between the main sides: R RC C LC L
3. add sides between existing sides (plus extra two the widest):RR R RRC RC RCC C LCC LC LLC L LL
But your idea is also intuitive

But sides should be named just from left to right, not around
