360 controller help (GOG version)

I just bought SWOS on GOG. I m excited to play it, but I can t get my 360 controller to work. I have searched the internet, and I have followed various step-by-step instructions, but nothing is working for me. No matter what I try, I encounter any number of errors. I can t ever get past the first menu. Using the fire button to select things in the menu seems to always work, but the directional buttons are always flawed. The analog stick goes in one direction, or the game senses that it s always in the down position, and the D-pad never works.

Does anyone use a 360 controller with the GOG version of SWOS?

It s still acting funny. The cursor moves around without my input.

Do you know if there is a certain type of controller that is usually compatible with the game? I know that I am eventually going to buy an arcade stick for other games, so I d rather not buy joytokey just for one game.

It s free forever? On the website, it seems to imply that it s only a free trial, but I guess what it means is that it eventually won t be free.

One more quick, off-topic question: how do I keep from running off the ball? The only sport game that I ve been into was FIFA 06, and the ball kind of stuck to you and automatically dribbled. Instead of running off, do I need to get used to kicking it in the direction that I want to go?
