I just found a great game on steam which called Ballsy! World Cup 2020. It's from the developer of Gameplay Football, a game with much pottential but never released.
Ballsy! World Cup 2020 is a simple game, with no rules (fouls, offsides, penalties etc), but with fantastic, difficult and rewarding AI. Players have inertia and you have to built up your game to make a goal. Fantastic effort.
Give it a try for an alternative to SWOS. In the future the developer will release a new game with clubs and a career mode.
