I extracted the new launcher but the problem remains. I tried with changing windows themes, from XP to classic, but its always the same

That looks cut-off/cropped too mate - since you ve got Windows XP, have you tried creating a new User account and installed SWOS Total Pack on that, just to rule out a profile or a setting in your profile as being the cause of the issue?

just tried with brand new user account, but all the same...

I`m sorry for bothering you guys, I really appreaciate the help but maybe this is some wierd windows problem afterall...
I`ve tried it today on yet another PC and it worked like a charm (it also had 4:3 lcd screen).

I`m working on a laptop, maybe that has something to do? Win is XP, Home Edition version 2002, Service pack 2...

I tried to copy all the appearance/desktop settings from the other comp and make sure they match mine, but no success

What sort of video card/chip does your laptop have?

Also, just curious, but have you tried booting the laptop in Safe Mode, and running the Total Pack? Would be interesting if it does the same thing...
