Can I play at Sensidays even if I don't have much experience?
Sensidays gives you the chance to play against the best SWOS players. However, if you're a newcomer, it is still a lot of fun and you will have competitive games.
Firstly, we will do an Amiga Rookie Cup on the Friday evening. This is open to any players who have not played in SWOS offline tournaments before. Exact format to be decided depending on the number of players.
During the main tournaments on Saturday and Sunday, the initial groups are formed based on a seeding system. Hence, you will play a cross-section of abilities. If you do not make it through to the next stage, there will be a second cup for all the players who did not get through (Carrot Cup). Hence, there is the possibility to play the whole day. The final of the Carrot Cup will take place before the main final.
What teams are used?
Original teams from the 96/97 edition are used, although many people rename their teams and players to their own preferences. We play without equal teams, so the choice of team is important. The most popular are Italy and Brazil.
If you have a custom team based on 96/97 with your own names, you can submit this to the organisers before the competition. All teams will be loaded on the machines, ready to play.
What tactics are used?
For each leg of a tie, one player is the "home" player. They can decide if custom tactics are allowed. If yes, then both players can choose a custom tactic. If no, then only standard tactics are allowed.
The most popular standard tactics are 442 and 523. If you have not developed your own custom tactics, the SWOS community can recommend some. Usually, the custom tactics have the players closer to the middle of the pitch.
As with the teams, custom tactics can be submitted to the organisers in advance and they will be loaded on all the machines.
What controllers do people use?
Original joysticks from the 1980s-1990s (Zipstik, Suzo the Arcade, Quickshot QS-131), some gamepads and custom made keypads.
