Great excel, thank you. But 1 question, why recalculate player skills into 0-7? Won t the total be misleading doing it this way? I m new to SWOS. Thank you.

Hi NovaD40.

It s recalculated into 0-7 scale because:
1. there is no evidence of any difference between 0-7 and 8-15.
2. it s possible to browse, sort, filter, etc. the database when it s all recalculated into one scale (0-7).

Hi xflea,

The 0-7 scale throws the #s off a bit. For example:

- using 0-7 scale (from excel)
Everton: 486
Chelsea: 474

- using 0-15 scale (I manually calculated)
Everton: 812
Chelsea: 850

The #s are total values for the teams. Chelsea is higher when using 0-15. For your #2 comment, isn t Excel able to sort/filter any # from 0-15? Thank you.

In fact, 0-7 doesn t throw off numbers, but shows the real values...

Have a look at attached screens and try to calculate stars for both Chelsea and Everton :) which team s total is higher?

The real value is that Everton is stronger (in players skills total) than Chelsea in SWOS.

That is beacuse (in SWOS):
0=8
1=9
2=10
3=11
4=12
5=13
6=14
7=15

So, there is no difference if a skill is represented by 7 or 15 - in any case it s the top value.

Imagine two players with all skills at top, one of them with only 7s and second with only 15s. They re both exactly the same top players, however the first total skill points sum up to 49, and the second to 105...

Wow, you re correct. Counting the stars in your attachments, Everton is a bit higher than Chelsea. In this case, why does SWOS represent
0=8
1=9
...?
Why doesn t it just use 0-7?
Does this mean if I use an editor and I make a player s skills all 13s (player1) and another player all 7s (player2), in SWOS this actually means player2 is better, even though the # totals don t reflect this?

Check this, which was posted in another context but is still relevant:

Im gonna do a guide soon, but the skills system in swos is quite easy to understand. All players have a number from 0-15 in 7 different categories (speed, passsing, finishing, tackling, shot power, ball control, heading). The confusing part is that numbers 0-15 are divided in 2, why i dont know (heard a rumor about player wages, but im not sure). The lowest is 0 which is equal to 8. The best is 15 which is equal to 7. This means the following:

8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15

Player example:

Roberto Mussi (Parma)

P V H T C S F
15 4 3 15 4 15 2

This would be equal to:

P V H T C S F
7 12 11 7 12 7 10

P = Passing
V = Shot Power
H = Heading
T = Tackling
C = Ball Control
S = Speed
F = Finishing

Roberto Mussi is RB, but i think he is perfect for a defensive midfielder. He has maximum in categories Speed, Tackling, and passing. Some people often get confused when i set an attacker in defence, but i know the skills of the player. And like playaveli said, you could easily have george weah in defence cause he has max in every skill. His stats are here together with a few others:

I m not sure about switching positions for players...

Try to play with Italy and put Maldini in attack. He is a maximum value player, so should be perfect in speed, ball control, shooting, finishing, etc. But somehow his strikes are not so powerful as those of nominal attackers (like Zola or Ravanelli)...
