Hi.
A SWOS will come out later this year with the current season player database.
That's great.

I've been playing SWOS for years and still like it. I play in career mode.
It would be great that the new SWOS that will come out could have more changes than only updating the teams and players database.

A change in the program, would introduce a top rule: In Eufa Cup, teams from the same national league cannot be drawn to play against each other in the first 3 rounds.

Sugestions to competitions, including in career mode:

EUFA CUP: teams from the same national league cannot be drawn to play against each other in the first 3 rounds.

EUROPEAN CUP-WINNERS CUP: Disable it, no longer exists in reality.

EUROPEAN CLUB CHAMPIONS CUP:
- Enlarge to 32 teams (8 groups). The participants being as follows.
- The winner of previous season European Champions Cup (1 team).
- The winner of previous season of Eufa Cup (1 team).
- For the leagues of Spain, England, Germany, Italy and France qualify directly to group stage the top two placed teams (10 teams).
- Also qualify directly to the group stage the champions of Portugal, Holland, Russia, Belgium, Austria, Scotland,Czechia, Denmark, Switzerland, Sweden, Poland, Ukraine, Turkey and Greece (14 teams).
- All the other twenty-four national champions would have to play TWO play-off qualifying rounds in knock-out system to obtain the last participants in the group stage (6 teams). So, 1+1+10+14+6=32
- This sugestion is based on the fact that SWOS has 43 national leagues.
- Note1: If, in the previous season, BOTH winner of European Champions Cup and winner of Eufa Cup, were, at the same time, national league champions of any country, or runner-up in Spain, England, Germany, Italy and France, THEN: the 3rd placed teams in the national league of Spain and England qualify directly to the group stage.
- Note2: If, in the previous season, ONLY ONE of the teams, winner of European Champions Cup OR winner of Eufa Cup, was, at the same time, national league champions of any country or runner-up in Spain, England, Germany, Italy and France, THEN: the 3rd placed team in the national league of Spain qualifies directly to the group stage.

- The draw for the group stage would be as follows.
- Pot1: champions of Spain, England, Germany, Italy, France, Portugal, Holland and Russia.
- Pot2: runner-ups of Spain, England, Germany, Italy and France plus the champions of Belgium, Austria and Scotland.
- Pot3 and Pot4: Randomly all the other 16 teams, including European champions Cup title holder and Eufa Cup title holder. - Of course, no teams from the same national league can be drawn to the same group.
- The top two teams of each group qualify to the knock-out stage.
- The draw for the round of 16 would have on Pot1 all the 8 group winners and in Pot2 all the 8 runners-up of the group stage.
- Of course, no teams from the same national league can be drawn to play against each other in the round of 16.

EUFA CUP:
- Enlarge to 64 teams, with no group stage.
- Very important rule: teams from the same national league cannot be drawn to play against each other in the first 3 rounds.
- The participants in this Eufa Cup being as follows.
- For the leagues of Spain, England, Germany, Italy and France (15 teams): the 3rd placed, 4th placed and the cup winner (or 5th place if the cup winner finished the national league in the first four places)
- For the leagues of Portugal, Holland, Russia, Belgium, Austria, Scotland, Czechia, Denmark, Switzerland, Sweden and Poland (22 teams): the 2nd placed and the cup winner (or 3rd placed if the cup winner is one of the first two).
- For the other 27 countries: the cup winner (or the 2nd placed if the cup winner is the national champion). So, 15+22+27=64
- Note1: If, in the previous season, BOTH winner of European Champions Cup and winner of Eufa Cup, were NOT, at the same time, national league champions of any country, or runner-up in Spain, England, Germany, Italy and France, THEN: the 5th placed teams in the national league of Spain and England qualify to Eufa Cup (or 6th place if the cup winner finished the national league in the first five places)
- Note2: If, in the previous season, ONLY ONE of the teams, winner of European Champions Cup OR winner of Eufa Cup, was NOT, at the same time, national league champions of any country or runner-up in Spain, England, Germany, Italy and France, THEN: the 5th placed team in the national league of Spain qualify to Eufa Cup (or 6th place if the cup winner finished the national league in the first five places).

With this suggestions, in career mode, it doesn't matter in what league the player is, because doesn't happen to the player to qualify directly to the group stage of European Champions Cup as champion of a small league.

For the ranking of leagues sugested above, I considered the popularity of SWOS in several countries but also consulted the real uefa "country ranking" in the excelent site kassiesa.net/uefa/index.html.

I hope these suggestions are possible and useful, to make the more real.

Great suggestions, all of them! Time to make them work: Maybe one more year!

Sorry... the focus this time was to get the game running on modern windows without emulators, USB joystick support, widescreen 16:9 pitch mode, enhenced sound options and having both, AMIGA and DOS, gameplay in the same game!

Hi all,

If one is allowed to dream, after SWOS 2020 is released, perhaps the 2020/2021 version could have the South American continental club competitions? namely the wonderful Copa Libertadores and the Copa Sudamericana!

that would be brilliant indeed! In 96/97 a career in for instance Colombia can become quite repetitive after a few seasons (no national cup, no copa libertadores)

While I do like the idea of trying to update the tournaments to reflect how they are run at the minute, I would agree that this type of thing would be low on the list of things to add to the game. Also, the way UEFA runs the tournaments in real life is terrible, designed only to benefit the big teams at the expense of everyone else (see this season where the last 16 in the UCL are from the big 5 European leagues, that sucks), so I'd be happy to see SWOS stay in the 90s world were things were more fair.

But I would love to see the continental competitions for the rest of the continents being implemented (for career mode too), as it can get a bit boring when managed in those other places (like Sebatosh said), and I often then hope for a move to a European team after winning a couple of leagues. And maybe the world club cup as the icing on the cherry!

The competitions names will not be changed to Europa League, Champions League? Maybe because they cannot remove the Cup Winners Cup
